Big plans are a big plus for Ten Ten Mass

Last December, owners at Ten Ten Mass were delighted when some redevelopment rumors became reality. Mayor Adrian Fenty announced an $850-million redevelopment plan for the 10-acre site once occupied by the old DC Convention Center, just two blocks from Ten Ten Mass.

The focus of the redevelopment is retail, and plenty of it: some 250,000 square feet, potentially anchored by the return of a large department store such as Nordstrom or Bloomingdale's to the downtown area. The mayor signaled the significance of the project by describing it as the new "heart and soul of downtown."

What's more, plans were recently finalized for a new 1,150-room Marriott Hotel next to the Convention Center. Marriott also plans to build two other hotels in the neighborhood.

The addition of so much new retail space in this already-booming area and the infusion of public/private money and attention behind it can only boost property values and long-term prospects at Ten Ten Mass.
